Slab Poured

Our basement is finished as well as our garage.  Monday or Tuesday they will begin walls.  We went out to see it today since it was the annual May Day Festival.  Just so happened that my Mom was in and I could no longer wait until June to tell her.  She was leaving town the same day as the festival so we drove her there on her way out to surprise her.  It was amazing.  She was so shocked and surprised which is hard to do to my Mom.

Foundation

Went by the house today and discovered that our foundation has been poured.  Found out from Sean that our ground works, water & sewer are done and inspected.  They will begin back filling on Monday & Tuesday, everywhere the brick is black will be back filled with dirt to form our landscape, then they will be prepping to pour our slab.  So exciting.

Workers busy building our foundation - Thanks Sean for the work in progress picture!

Approved

Today is the day of the rest of our life.... we received our approval from underwriting.  I received the message from Rex, our loan officer, upon returning to the office from lunch break.  I could not contain myself!  I jumped up and down and was beside myself with joy.  It felt like the weight of the world was lifted off of my shoulders in that moment.  I picked up the phone and called Phill and he could not believe it, he asked how I knew and exactly what was said.  We both were beside ourselves with happiness.

I told the kids that we were approved by underwriting for the loan when I got home from work, well really from Home Goods & Kirkland's since these are my new staples for home decor'.  They were so excited to know we are now on our way to our dream family home.  It was so much fun to see their faces fill with excitement at the news.  Ayden has been excited about his room and is always asking if he can paint it blue.  I have a feeling that is going to happen soon after moving in.

Now the room planning, real packing and dreaming can really begin without reservation.  I am overjoyed at the blessing of this new chapter in our lives.  The one thing that will  make it complete is being able to see my Mom & Dad's faces when they see what we have been up to for the past few months.  We are planning on surprising them and taking them to the actual house to tell them when they come down for Brittany's graduation in June.  It has been so hard to tell her about our "house hunting" and mortgage process without spilling the beans, but it will be worth it to get to tell her in person and at the site of our new home.

Until then, we will be going out to the site as often as possible to get updated pictures and keep posting about the entire process....

Happy building!!

Mother's Day - Best Gift Ever

Today for Mother's Day we took a trip out to the site of our new house.  They have broken ground and outlined the frame for the foundation to be poured this week.  It was so neat to see the progress on our neighbors houses and to be able to stand next to the outline of our new home.  It is so hard to believe it is finally time to start the building adventure.

The ground comes crumbling down...

While Christy was in Pensacola they broke ground on our home. So exciting! Next week they will be pouring and sealing our foundation. It's crazy to realize this day has finally come. It feels like a dream most of the time. Can't wait to go out to see how it looks. In weeks to come there will be a lot of trips to the new neighborhood. So fun!

The verdict is in....

No double wall ovens and cooktop :-( Since we purchased the version 2 Verona the counter layout changed along with the double oven option in version 3 and you can't mix and match codes between versions. It is a bit of a bummer, Rob our SR tried and for that we are thankful! I know I will still love my kitchen in the end and I'm just grateful to be able to create the kitchen of my dreams!
